If I could only use one word to describe my time at UTSRI I would choose perseverance. Through many conferences, it was a prominent, recurring trait. My perseverance is consistently challenged through the work we do (and I wouldn’t have it any other way). From the planning phases to the last-minute changes on the day of, I was taught what the true meaning of perseverance was. This is meshed into my real life, helping with quick thinking and being able to take on any level of challenge thrown my way.
UTSRI has helped shaped me into the person I am today; strong, confident and self-assured. My time here has taught me what I am truly capable of with the right support and people. We have been able to make large-scale conferences a reality all with the power of our amazing team and countless hours. If this organization has taught me anything, it is that truly anything is possible with hard work and dedication to your craft.
I want to thank the amazing people I work with for making my time here as lovely as it has been. Without you all, this organization would not be where it is today.
Here’s to many more successful events.

I started my time at UTSRI in the summer of 2024 with little to no finance or STEM experience outside of my coursework. At the time, I knew UTSRI had a bold vision of bridging STEM research with large-scale conferences, though there was still significant work to be done in determining the path to get there.
Fast forward to the summer of 2026, and UTSRI, along with its parent chapter, NRCI, has expanded to host more than three major conferences across multiple STEM disciplines, with over 500 participants and continued growth.
Throughout my time at UTSRI, I have had the privilege of managing numerous school and research program delegations, overseeing budgeting and sponsorship outreach, and growing as a leader into someone who is more confident in making fast-acting decisions and working within an exceptional team of over 50 members.
As someone who has always been interested in STEM, the network of professors and PhD students UTSRI has connected me with has also helped inspire me to conduct research of my own, particularly in the field of highway and traffic engineering. Much of my work focuses on mitigating collision risk for freight vehicles on controlled-access freeways, in collaboration with members of the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto.
UTSRI is an organization that fosters growth in those with the ambition to pursue their goals while approaching every opportunity with curiosity, humility, and effort. I would like to personally thank Adrian Lam, our President, for believing in the executive committee and myself, as well as the entire executive and senior leadership team for their commitment, hard work, and the countless lessons I continue to learn from them every day.
